Look at the station, then complete arrival
Antwerp Central is more than an exit point from the train. If you want to examine the building, leave a separate short interval after arrival. Standing with suitcases amid other passengers is not a relaxed architectural visit. First establish where luggage can be left by arrangement.
The tourism office distinguishes the station district, historic centre, and Het Zuid. That division is more useful than a dispersed collection of favourite addresses. Let the first day move from the station towards the centre, then give the second a southern focus of its own.
Do not connect every museum name
For Het Zuid, make the KMSKA your anchor. Treat the interior visit at Leopold de Waelplaats and the surrounding southern streets as one stay in the district. A possible approach from the old town follows Nationalestraat and continues towards Kloosterstraat. Browsing these streets can already become a substantial part of the afternoon, so do not leave the museum itself to the final minutes before dinner.
The MAS is in the northern dockside district, not beside the KMSKA. If city and port history interest you more than the southern art collection, let the northern area replace the second focus. Simply travelling between both museums changes the day into a different kind of visit. Decide which institution is the main reason for going before comparing tickets or a pass.
If one person wants a shorter museum stay, agree a shared core beforehand. Afterwards, a nearby walk or pause may contribute more than another booked attraction. The whole afternoon need not be identical minute by minute for both people.
Keep the old town and waterfront connected
In the old town, connect Grote Markt, the cathedral, and the way towards the Scheldt. For a small detour, Visit Antwerpen identifies the Vlaeykensgang entrance at Oude Koornmarkt 16. Treat the passage as another view of the city when accessible, rather than a shortcut on which the entire schedule depends. The river can then finish this old-town section.
At the river, decide whether you want a brief view or a longer walk. A waterfront line is not automatically a suitable substitute for every direct city journey. Check actual access and the onward connection to your accommodation.
Leave one optional stop rather than several promises. If the earlier visit takes longer, dropping a genuine option is easier than rearranging reservations. That matters when two people spend different amounts of time looking at an exhibition.
Choose an ending that fits departure
Antwerp contains enough for several distinct stays. For two nights, station architecture, the historic centre, and one art district already make a coherent visit. Adding northern museum stops makes sense only if they matter more than the time removed elsewhere.
Keep departure day for a route that can shorten towards the station. Do not collect luggage only when a map's walking estimate appears to leave exactly enough time. A station used as an attraction and as a departure point asks different things of your final hour.
