Begin with two endpoints
Choose a start and intended finishing area rather than immediately drawing a closed loop. If a tram handles the return, the outdoor route can move in one direction. You need not retrace the same streets merely because accommodation is behind you.
In Prague, for example, the old-town area and a separate Malá Strana section can be considered independently. Check the tram connection from the actual endpoint with DPP for your date. An appealing line on an older map does not establish its current route or correct boarding place.
Save stop, direction, and exit rather than only the line number. Nearby stops may serve opposite directions. Read the live display before waiting on the wrong side with bags or tired legs.
Walking begins again after alighting
Examine the last walking sections. A nearby stop may sit on another level or beyond a major crossing. For step avoidance, the actual path matters more than distance.
If a substantial interior is planned, place it on an appropriately connected part. A walk remains adjustable while a reservation may not. Give the museum approach the same attention as the more attractive waterfront section.
For different walking needs, an intermediate stop can help. Do not wait until the farthest point to decide the route was excessive. Choose a shorter shared section with a regular way to finish it.
If adding an independent extension, establish the reunion before separating. A named stop and direction are clearer than meeting wherever the tram reaches the centre.
Keep ticket and route aligned
Read local validity for the actual modes and period. A tourist heritage tram and an ordinary line may be different products. DPP supplies journey planning and timetables; use the particular connection rather than only a familiar route label.
If alighting and continuing later, check whether the purchased period still covers that. Return journey does not define validity. Both travellers also need the correct entitlement.
Before the last ride, review changes and your actual location. A different park or museum exit can favour another stop. An open route works when its ending is organised deliberately rather than discovering any available tram at the end.
