Separate three arrival times
Distinguish scheduled train arrival, possible bag storage, and confirmed room access. They need not coincide. An early arrival creates a useful morning only when luggage and the next destination are clear.
Ask the accommodation specifically about early bag storage. General check-in information does not answer that. If nobody is present, arrange another solution. For station lockers, check access, dimensions, and payment at the actual station rather than another station in the same city.
Keep the first journey smaller than a full sightseeing day. After a night travelling, alighting, washing, and orientation already take time. A nearby pause can expand; an early distant tour requires attendance regardless of how the night went.
Train breakfast and breakfast ashore are different
Nightjet describes breakfast within particular couchette products. That does not establish identical provision or timing for every overnight service. Read your category. A seated product or different operator may work differently.
For breakfast after arrival, identify somewhere actually open at that hour. A café pin does not confirm an early opening. Weekday differences can turn the assumed pause into a search for another address.
Agree whether a lengthy breakfast or a brief start followed by a later meal suits better. Connect this with luggage arrangements. Returning twice to the station for one quick coffee rarely simplifies the morning.
If the train includes a meal, treat any additional breakfast as a preference rather than assuming it is needed to make arrival work. The useful question is where you can comfortably spend the interval before the next confirmed step.
Keep the first visit adjustable
A short city section near accommodation or bags can absorb the morning. Save a start and reachable endpoint. Delay or tiredness can then shorten it without automatically losing a reservation.
If retaining a fixed appointment, allow an appropriate interval and read its actual change conditions. A scheduled arrival does not establish that you can reach a distant entrance moments later.
After check-in, a pause is legitimate. An overnight journey does not replace a room-based night's rest equally for everyone. A morning both people can support is more useful than a theoretically gained full day only one person wants to use.
Keep the larger shared priority later, once bags and access are settled. That separates the unavoidable arrival tasks from the experience you travelled to enjoy.
